At the beginning of the game, each player receives a Bet card and 7 Racing cards. They choose one of these latter to be their second bet. Their goal is to have the animals on which they bet be the firsts to cross the finish line. Players take turns playing Racing cards in front of them. As soon as either a total of 8 cards is reached, or 4 cards of the same animal have been played, the Racing phase begins. The animals move forward (or not!) depending on how many of their cards have been played. Each animal moves differently: • The Hare runs really fast (2 tiles) but there’s always a chance that it takes a break if it’s in first place (when 4 Hare cards are played). • The Tortoise walks steadily (1 tile even no Tortoise cards are played), and can even sprint one additionnal tile (if 4 Tortoise cards are played). • The Wolf is pretty fast (1 tile for 1 or 2 cards, t2 tiles for 3 cards and 3 tiles for 4 cards) and can freeze the other animals with its frightening howl. • The Fox just advances as many tiles as the number of Fox cards played. • The Lamb runs even faster (1 tile per card + 1), but must stop and drink each time its path crosses a steam. Each of the 3 animals to reach the finish line first gives victory points (5, 3 and 2 points) to each player who bet on them.
